Working here
Outdoor work in a climate that does not negotiate. Here is an honest description of it before you decide whether that appeals.
The roles
Crew member — maintenance
Mowing, edging, bed work and seasonal cleanups on a fixed route. Full-time, year-round.
Crew member — installation
Grading, drainage, planting, sod and hardscape. Heavier work, more variety, more machinery.
Crew leader
Runs a truck and a route or a job. Owns the quality of what leaves the property that day.
Estimator
Walks properties, reads drainage, writes the itemised price — and then has to stand behind it.
Irrigation technician
Zone design, head adjustment, valve and controller work. The most diagnostic job on the yard.
What the year is actually like
March to October is hot, humid and long, and the grass does not stop. November to February is cleanups, hardscape, drainage and pruning — the work that is far pleasanter to do in cool weather and far more skilled than it looks. Storm season interrupts everything, and the crews who go out first are the ones who volunteered.
If you like being outdoors, are prepared to learn why the ground does what it does, and can turn up on the same day every week, the rest is trainable.
This is a demonstration site for a fictional company, so there is no application to submit and no vacancy to fill. On a real site this page would carry the actual openings and a way to apply.
